Overview

EV Charger Installation From a Local, Family-Owned Team

EV charger installation is the fastest way to turn your garage into your own fueling station. Plugging an electric vehicle into a standard outlet works, but it is slow, and a properly installed Level 2 charger lets most drivers start every morning with the range they need.

JBEE Industries is a Tesla certified installer for EV chargers, and a licensed, bonded and insured electrical contractor. We install home EV chargers across Mesa and the East Valley, and we start every job by making sure your electrical system can support the charger safely.

Charging Basics

Level 1 vs. Level 2 Home EV Charging

Level 1 charging uses a regular 120 volt household outlet and the cord that comes with many vehicles. It adds only a few miles of range per hour, which can be fine for short commutes but falls behind quickly for longer drives or a second EV.

Level 2 charging runs on 240 volts, the same kind of power a dryer or electric range uses. It charges many times faster than Level 1 and is how most EV owners charge at home. A Level 2 charger can be hardwired to the wall or plugged into a heavy duty 240 volt outlet, and we will help you choose the setup that fits your vehicle and garage.

Circuit And Panel

Why Most EV Chargers Need a Dedicated Circuit

A Level 2 charger draws a large amount of current for hours at a time, so it needs its own dedicated circuit. It cannot safely share a circuit with garage outlets, a freezer or a washer. Electrical code also treats EV charging as a continuous load, which means the circuit and breaker have to be sized larger than the charger’s rated current. For example, a charger that draws 48 amps needs a 60 amp circuit.

That is why the first thing we look at is your panel. We check whether you have enough spare capacity and an open space for a new breaker. In many Mesa homes there is room, and installation is simply a new circuit from the panel to the charger.

In other homes, especially older ones with 100 amp service or homes already running two air conditioners, the panel is at its limit. In that case the answer may be a panel upgrade before the charger goes in. Some chargers can also be set to charge at a lower amperage or share power with other loads, which can sometimes avoid an upgrade. We will explain the tradeoffs and let you decide.

Tesla Certified

A Tesla Certified Installer for EV Chargers

JBEE Industries is a Tesla certified installer for EV chargers, and we bring the same care to every home charger we install. Whatever you drive, the fundamentals are the same: a correctly sized circuit, proper wire and breaker, a solid ground, and a clean installation that is tested before we leave.

Our Tesla certification also covers home battery backup, so it is something we install too. A battery pairs well with EV charging and solar, and it can be added with solar or on its own. If you are thinking about a battery, ask about it during your estimate, or read our home battery backup installation page.

Because we also handle solar and HVAC, we can look at your charger in the context of the whole home. If you have or are planning solar panels, or you plan to add a heat pump, we will size the circuit and panel with those in mind so you are not paying for electrical work twice.

It also pays to think one car ahead. If a second electric vehicle is likely down the road, tell us during the estimate. Planning the circuit, panel capacity and charger location for two cars now is usually simpler than reworking the installation later.

What To Expect

Our EV Charger Installation Process

We start with a visit to see your panel, your garage or parking spot, and the route between them. Then you get a free estimate with upfront pricing, including anything your panel needs. There are no surprises once the work starts.

Cost Factors

What Affects EV Charger Installation Cost

EV charger installation cost depends mostly on your panel and on distance. A charger mounted a few feet from a panel with spare capacity is a straightforward job. A charger on the far side of the house, a detached garage, or a panel that needs an upgrade adds to the scope.

We do not quote blind. We come out, look at your setup, and give you a free estimate with upfront pricing. Financing options are available if your project includes a panel upgrade.

Mon to Fri, 8 AM to 5 PM
01Do I need a dedicated circuit for an EV charger?
Yes, a Level 2 charger needs its own dedicated circuit. It draws high current for long periods, so it cannot safely share a circuit with other outlets or appliances. The circuit and breaker must be sized for continuous use.
02Will I need a panel upgrade to install an EV charger?
Not always. If your panel has spare capacity and room for a new breaker, the charger can usually be added without an upgrade. Homes with 100 amp service or heavy existing loads sometimes need a panel upgrade first, and we check before we recommend one.
03Should I hardwire my charger or use a 240 volt outlet?
Both work. Hardwiring is a clean, permanent setup and is often preferred for higher power chargers, while an outlet makes it easy to unplug or replace the charger later. We will recommend the option that fits your charger and how you use it.
04Are you Tesla certified for EV chargers?
Yes. JBEE Industries is a Tesla certified installer for EV chargers, and we install home battery backup as well. Ask about it when you request your free estimate, and we will walk you through your charging options.
05Can I install an EV charger myself?
Installing a 240 volt dedicated circuit involves working inside your electrical panel, and mistakes can cause overheating or fire. It is a job for a licensed electrician, and it usually needs a permit and inspection. A professional install also protects your home and your charger.
06Can you install home battery backup along with an EV charger?
Yes. As a Tesla certified installer, we install home battery backup, with or without solar. It can be planned together with your EV charger so the circuits and panel are sized once. Ask us during your free estimate.

JBee did a turnkey HVAC install. Every aspect went as promised. Low/high voltage electrical, ductwork, crane and roof install, wifi thermostat, all went like clockwork. And to a person, the crews (specialists in each area) were impressive. Arrived exactly when promised and stayed busy. I might also add their clean-up made it look as if they were never there. Highly reccomend
